Building and fostering a culture committed to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is integral to our mission.
In addition to ensuring a workplace where everyone is heard and acknowledged, it also helps us to better connect with our clients’ needs to ensure these ideals are reflected in the educational materials we work with them to develop.
Our DEI mission statement grounds our efforts in this area:
We at Westchester Education UK & International recognise the need for today’s educational materials to truly represent the diverse experiences of all students, including those of historically underrepresented populations.
Each person brings not only individual strengths but also a collective experience drawn from the many groups with which they identify and their experiences provide unique perspectives.
To help our clients integrate myriad perspectives into their material, we commit to building a diverse talent base and cultivating an organisational culture in which everyone feels included and valued.
We are taking concrete steps to meet this mission, yet there is still much work to be done, both within our organisation and within our industry. We have begun to formalise our efforts at ensuring a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work culture, including changing our approach to talent recruitment and partnering with others working toward diversity and inclusion.
We are exploring ways to gather data so that we can create accountability measures for our goals and progress. Finally, we are continuing to join local, national, and global conversations on diversity, equity, and inclusion, both to build on our strategy as well as to share our experiences and lessons learned with others.
You can follow our progress as a company and contribute to the conversation via LinkedIn, or following us on our podcast Westchester Words UK & International.
Feel free to get in touch to share the DEI best practices that have worked for your organisation.
